Location
Oak Point is located in southeastern Denton County, just 10 miles from the Dallas North Tollway, 7 miles from IH-35E and 25 miles from the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. It is close to the cities of Denton, Lewisville, Frisco, Plano, and McKinney, and about a 45-mile drive from downtown Fort Worth, Dallas, and Arlington.
History and Size
The city was incorporated as a general law municipality in 1976. Today, the 5.43-square-mile city on the scenic Lake Lewisville peninsula has over 4,000 residents and more than 2,000 households, according to the latest Census data.
Parks & REcreation
The city’s primary park is the 8.5-acre Jake’s Place Park, featuring baseball xfields, basketball courts, soccer field, outdoor pavilion, and a playground. Residents will also find the Oak Point Boat Ramp for Lake Lewisville and can participate in the Little Elm Area Youth Sports Association. A substantial upgrade to the city’s trail system is also in the planning phases.

The city is protected by 3 stations of the Oak Point Fire Department, plus the Denton County Sherriff’s Office and the Oak Point Police Department – recipient of the Lexipol Gold Standard Award.

Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club
Established in 1956, the Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club in Oak Point was born a member-owned, volunteer-driven club devoted to competition and camaraderie on the water through monthly races and social events.
PRestonwood Polo Club
The Prestonwood Polo & Country Club in Oak Point is one of the premier polo clubs of North Texas and part of the newly formed DFW Polo Association. It launched in 2008 and now has 3 pristine polo fields.
